The word reproduction means to bring forth again or to create again. Here the reproduction of oil paintings means creating the same painting again. It is normally done for the paintings that are faded or damaged due some or the other reason. This reproduction of oil paintings can stay for almost 500 years with out fading if they are stored properly in shade. Where as above techniques fade with in 15 years. In this technique polyester base is used for printing. Fotempera is a technique of reproducing oil paintings with the help of bi-chromate photo process along with the ammonium dichromate. This has a lengthy process to follow and not impressive also. The oldest technique of reproduction of oil painting is Bromoil that prints the oil painting image on bromide paper. Karl Koenig introduced Gumoil technique in mid 1990. Here oil paints are scratched on the finished portion of the positive film that sucks the oil paints and provides a shining look to the paintings.

The reproduction of oil painting process takes almost takes a month to complete single painting. If the size of the canvas is bigger then it more time to complete reproduction process.
